The patterns/paint I make my own. In the pictures you can see I made the head of the cat green, when I exit the paint menu the cat goes black. You also don't see the changes you make in the lower avatar of the pet. What happens when the bug occurs? When I make a pattern with the paint tool on a pet and I go to another sim or make an adjustment to the pet the pattern will go away and go back to default.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When you give a pet an new pattern of your own with the paint tool and exit the paint menu. What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them except toddlers stuff. How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%) Which language are you playing the game in?
